The diaphragm is the primary breathing muscle and in most people, it is weak, tight, locked, or dysfunctional and they rely instead on the upper chest, neck, and shoulders muscles to do breathe. This is not healthy and creates excess tension in the upper body. The primary breathing muscle, the diaphragm, is used as the main motor of proper breathing. This practice will help you become aware of your diaphragm and guide you in how to use it properly.
